Got it Down!

The fifth UIUC-SLIS class last Friday was a lot of fun! We met in Caledon and danced our way through class to streaming period background music. I had wondered about the dances I'd seen advertised, and now I know it can be lots of fun.

Fourth Time's a Charm!

Hey! I made it to class on time, sat through the lecture and three video driver crashes, and feel like I'm a proud first-grader! Still a beginner, but not like those kindergartners. Now I've just got to re-schedule my ref desk shift and catch up with the assignments during this two-week hiatus.

Does anyone know whether there will be SL activities / programs at PLA in March?

My SL Reference Desk Shift

I think my presence in this course is star-crossed. I had signed up for a 9-11pm reference shift on Info Island, during which I would be shadowing the librarian on duty. I logged on to SL a little before 9pm to find there was a new version of the software that I must download in order to connect. Okay, so there goes 10 minutes. It's Not As Easy As It Looks!

So ... I missed both sessions, so far, in the UIUC Virtual World Librarianship class - first time, because I didn't pay attention to the RL time zones; second time, because I somehow didn't get the word about where to meet, and didn't think to IM Lorelei because I recognized names in the audience and thought I was in the right place. And I'm going to miss the third session as well, because of a conflict with another workshop in RL.
